  CHOOSING YOUR COTTAGE

This web site contains detailed descriptions of each of the cottages. Each cottage is referenced to the nearest Town or Village, lake and bay..

Please read each listing carefully, especially as it relates to the maximum number of people permitted in the cottage and any other limitations that affect the rental.

There are three basic ways to search for a cottage, the first is through our customized search engine. Using the search engine you can state the specific criteria that you are looking for in a cottage. Then you press the submit button, and a list of cottages that meet your criteria are displayed, simply click onto the cottage name to call up the detailed cottage description and pictures.

The second method is to browse the cottages by geographic area. This will produce a listing of cottages for the area requested.

The final method is to browse the cottages by availability calendar. This will produce a calendar showing the availability dates for each of the cottage. Click on the cottage name to see the detailed cottage page.

HOW TO BOOK A COTTAGE

The first step is to call our office (315-375-8257) for instructions by telephone. Payment for reservation by check or money order. It is also a good idea to ask any questions you may have about the cottage prior to booking it.

We will confirm the booking in writing to you, once we have processed it. One third of the rent is due when making the booking, the remaining funds are due 30 days prior to the rental.

Once we receive the total rental amount, plus the security deposit, we will email or mail to you instructions on how to enter the cottage, a map, inventory and the house rules to the cottage. If you have not received this information 10 days prior to the start of your rental, please contact the office.

PAYMENT METHODS    

We accept booking reservations when provided with a check or money order. 

SECURITY DEPOSITS

There are two options for posting a Security Deposit. The first is to post a $500 cash deposit with the rental. The cash deposit will be returned 40 days after the end of the rental period. A second option is to purchase our Accidental Damage Waiver Protection Plan. For a nominal fee of $45.00, you may purchase $3000 of Accidental Damage protection. The benefits of Purchasing Accidental Damage protection is that your will not have to tie up $500 for a two month period and you will have piece of mind should an accident happen at the cottage.

Please be advised that a credit card number will l be required for long distance telephone calls, extra cleaning charges, garbage disposal, pet cleanup, penalties of exceeding the permitted number of people at the cottage.etc.,.

KEYS

The majority of our cottages are equipped with lock boxes. These lock boxes contain the keys to the cottage and can be accessed when a security code has been entered. At the end of the rental period the keys are to be returned to the box. In some instances the cottage is left open by the cottage owner or the owner will meet you at the property at the start of the rental period.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES

Unless stated otherwise, arrival time is always 4:30 p.m. on the start date of each rental. Departure time is 10:30 a.m. on the end date of the rental(unless otherwise stated on web page). It is important to adhere to these times to allow the company to check the property between rentals. On departure, please ensure the property is left clean and in good order. This is the renter's responsibility.

BOOKING DEPOSIT

A booking deposit is required with all rental applications. The booking deposit is one third of the total rental amount , plus the processing fee of $35.00. If more than one cottage is being applied for, then the average booking deposit amount will be used.

LAST MINUTE RENTALS

All bookings made less than 30 days prior to the rental period must be accompanied by the total rental amount including the security deposit. For rentals starting in less than 10 days, a certified check is required.

CHANGES TO BOOKINGS

If unforeseen circumstances result in the cottage you have reserved not being available, alternate accommodation of similar or better quality will be offered by the Company or a full refund will be paid. No further compensation will be made.

Changes in booking by renters is considered a cancellation, and as such will be subject to the cancellation policy of the rental agreement

CANCELLATION POLICY

Any cancellation made by the Renter shall be in writing addressed to the Company. On receipt of such notice of cancellation, the Company shall endeavor to re-book the holiday accommodation for the entire period of the original booking.

If the Company is successful in re-booking the holiday accommodation for the entire period originally booked, it shall refund to the Renter all monies paid (whether by deposit or otherwise) less a cancellation fee of $50.00 per period booked.

If the Company only succeeds in re-booking the holiday accommodation for a portion of the period originally booked, it shall refund the monies paid relating to the period re-booked, less a cancellation fee of $50.00 per period booked.

N.S.F. CHEQUES

Any N.S.F. cheques received by the company will be subject to any bank charges, plus a $20 handling charge.

TELEPHONE CHARGES

Use of the cottage phone shall be for local calls only. All long distance calls must be charged to the renters calling card. Any long distance calls shall be deducted from the security deposit along with a $30 service charge.

PETS

If pets are permitted it will be stated in the cottages description. In some cases the inclusion of pets is negotiable. All pets must be kept on a leash, and shall not be left at the cottage unattended. Dog owners must clean up after their pets.

A cottage designated as not permitting pets does not mean that the cottage owner does not have pets or that pets have never stayed at the cottage. Bruce Peninsula \ Huron Shores Cottage Rentals cannot guarantee that pets have not been at the cottage prior to your stay.

If you are allergic to cat or dog hair, please inquire to us to confirm that the cottage is pet free, PRIOR to booking the cottage.

COTTAGE FACILITIES

It must be remembered that each of these cottages is someone's cherished vacation home. All cottages have the normal amenities of home, such as running hot and cold water, flush toilets, pillows, dishes and pots and pans etc..

Unless otherwise stated, linens are not provided with the rental, guests must bring sheets, pillow cases, towels, dish cloths and dish towels.

Drinking water in many cases is from the lake or dug well. If the drinking water is not potable this will be indicated in the cottage description. In many cases the water is drinkable, but has a high iron or sulphur content that makes it aesthetically unpleasant. All of the stores in the area sell drinking water in large containers. Bruce Peninsula/Huron Shores Cottage Rentals recommends that you purchase all drinking water.

COTTAGE CLEANING

Cottage cleaning is not included with the rental. It is the responsibility of the renters to leave the cottage thoroughly clean and tidy before you depart. This means that a thorough cleaning must be done by you and/or your party prior to your departure! A cottage cleaning check list is provided with all rentals. Do not leave any garbage behind. All garbage must be taken with you and NOT left at the cottage. Deductions from your security deposit will result if the above is not adhered to.

RENTAL AGREEMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All rental clients will be required to enter into a Rental Agreement with the Company. We ask that you carefully review the terms and conditions of this agreement prior to signing.
